Last month I started using a book to teach my girls art. I love that the author said a lot of people just let kids develop on their own, but art is actually something kids can get better at if they practice. Yes! The teacher in me is jumping for joy! I can't recall the book at the moment, however this super simple instruction for kids instantly allowed my girls to color faster and neater.
Here goes:
Tell the child to color on the lines ('outside') SLOWLY and carefully. Then, they can color the 'inside' quickly -- this way they don't get frustrated with the amount of space they have to cover in order to finish a coloring sheet, and you'll have neater edges. I love this! REMEMBER to remind the child to do this for the first few weeks or they'll quickly forget. I can't wait to see how their drawing improves. I'll update this post with the book later on.
