Black History Month Unit 1 (Ancient African Civilizations)

This hands on project based unit combats the negative and false belief that African-Americans have no history before slavery. In simple and direct terms, children learn what the ancestors of African-Americans were doing in West and Central America before the Trans Atlantic Slave trade. 
 
Through a variety of media and projects students of all background will discover the exciting world of Black History. Over 40 pages of content include non-fiction and fiction text, quizzes, and unit test, videos and worksheets to go along with them, crafts and projects plus a kahoot game is included!
 
Thie is the first unit in a multiple unit series on black history! When complete the full mini-curriculum gives children (and adults!) a general overview of African-American history.
